Improvements 🛠️

  • Once a page/section approval reaches Approved or Rejected, the status is now final and the approval is locked, preventing further changes to decisions or settings. When a rejected page/section needs to be reviewed again, Resubmit request starts a fresh approval cycle, discarding previous decisions and notifying all approvers so the updated page/section receives a complete review (more details here).

  • Page approvals cannot be removed by clearing the approvers. The approval requester, or a space admin, can explicitly cancel the request instead via the ‘Cancel request’ action in the ••• menu.

  • The Permissions setting (Space settings > Approvals > Permissions) has been split into 2 separate settings that determine who can create or edit page approvals. The create permission also determine who can resubmit a page approval.

  • The notification settings on page and section approvals, Notify approvers and Update owners, have now been removed.

    • Users can now enable or disable individual email notifications from their personal preferences, and emails will always be sent for both page and section approvals, while respecting individual users' preferences.

Bug fixes 🐛

  • We have released important security and performance updates.

  • We’ve fixed a bug where the page approval display in the byline would error for guest users.

Deprecations ❌

  • The Prevent Decision Changes setting on section approvals is marked for deprecation and will be removed on .

    • This setting was a stop-gap solution to ensure that overall Rejected or Approved statuses could not be changed at a future date. This setting is now usurped by the recent change to the behaviour of section approvals; rejected and approved overall statuses are final and cannot be manipulated.

Upcoming changes 🔀

  • We plan to improve the way section approvals work, specifically regarding flexibility in making decisions and changing settings, and the impact this has on auditability (more details here).

    • These changes are planned for this month - October 2026.
