Approvals for Confluence Cloud - August 2026

Improvements 🛠️

• The page approval byline has a refreshed look and feel.

  • The way approvals work hasn't changed; you still set up approvals, approve or reject pages, and track progress exactly as before, but the byline is now clearer, easier to scan, and looks great in both light and dark Confluence themes.

  • The requester can now explicitly cancel a page approval request via the ‘Cancel request’ option in the byline card ••• menu.

• Dark mode compatibility has been greatly improved throughout the app.

• Users no longer require edit permissions to approve or reject a page (even if the Approvals for Confluence user does not have access to the page)

• A ‘reason’ column has been added to the Section Approval history table to match the Page Approval implementation. You can now see whether an expiry was due to a page edit or due to a time-based expiry.

Deprecations ❌

• Section Approvals > “Disable Automatic Comments” - will be removed on 2026-09-10

  • Historically, when decisions have been made on Section Approvals, the app has left page comments explaining which approvers made which decision as the default behaviour. This setting allowed you to disable this behaviour. After 2026-09-10, the app will no longer leave these page comments because the functionality is better served by Section Approval History.

• Space Settings > General > “Display Timestamps” - will be removed on 2026-09-10

  • This setting allowed you to prevent timestamps from being displayed when actions in Approvals were taken. After 2026-09-10, the app will display timestamps regardless.

Bug fixes 🐛

• Fixed a bug where the search page could incorrectly show fewer results than the number of rows per page when filtering by overall approval status
