Apply Levels and Restrictions to Spaces

If you would like to customize how levels and restrictions are applied on a space-by-space basis, then this option is the best for your organization.

This approach is more time-consuming to set up, but it will give you greater flexibility and control over how Compliance for Confluence works across your Spaces and is great if your teams have different needs.

Access Scope

First, you need to access the Scope settings. Start by accessing Apps in the top navigation bar and then clicking Compliance (A) from the drop-down menu.

Next, access Settings and then Scope (B). Now you are ready to start customizing how Level Schemes and Restriction Schemes are applied to the different spaces in Confluence.

Tip: Level Schemes should be configured before Restriction Schemes so we will cover that first.

Before you can apply Level Schemes to individual spaces, there are two pre-requisites:

  • Create Classification Levels - create the classification levels your organization needs in the Levels settings

  • Create Level Scheme - create a single Level Scheme that can be used across your entire Confluence instance.

Once both have been completed, you can move on to the next steps.

Apply Level Schemes to Spaces

Start by ensuring Manage Globally (C) is turned off, enabling space-level settings. Next, find the Confluence space to apply a custom Level Scheme, and ensure the toggle is on (D).

Next, find the Confluence space that you want to apply a custom Level Scheme and ensure the Level Scheme is toggled on (E).

Next, find the Confluence space that you want to apply a custom Level Scheme and ensure the Level Scheme is toggled on. Select the custom Level Scheme from the drop-down menu (E).

Once selected, the Level Scheme will automatically apply to this Confluence space. Repeat this process for as many spaces as you want to customize.

Important: If you do not select a Level Scheme for a specific space it will automatically apply the Default Level Scheme.

Apply Restriction Schemes to Spaces

You can also set custom restriction schemes for individual spaces, which is useful if any teams or departments have specific access restriction requirements. You can easily fulfill this with a custom Restriction Scheme. Before applying it to a Space, please ensure you have created the custom Restriction Schemes.

Once it has been created, you must restrict schemes for the specific space by using the toggle (F). You can select the custom Restriction Scheme in the drop-down menu (G).

Once selected, this will automatically apply the restriction scheme to that space. Repeat this process for as many spaces as you require.

Important: If you do not select a Restriction Scheme for a specific space it will automatically apply the Default Restriction Scheme.
