Guest and Anonymous Users

Guest Users

Although Guest Users can use Atlassian Marketplace apps installed on Confluence sites that they have access to, there are some limitations.

In Approvals for Confluence, guest users have restricted access to internal user data, which limits several features.

For more information, we have provided a detailed breakdown of which Approvals features are supported or unsupported for guest users.

Available Features

  • Guest users can be added to Approval Teams.

  • Guest users can be added as approvers to Page Approvals by non-guest users.

  • Guest users can be added as approvers to Section Approvals by non-guest users.

  • Guest users can approve and reject Page and Section Approvals, and leave comments.

  • Guest users can view Page Approval History, including comments.

  • Guest users can view Section Approval history, including comments.

  • Guest users can view the Page Approval Status macro.

  • Guest users can export the Page Approval Status and Section Approval macros.

By default, Guest users will see all users excluding themselves as ‘Unknown User’ within Approvals for Confluence. However, if the ‘Anonymous access’ setting for ‘View User Profile’ in Confluence’s global administration is enabled, they will see users as normal.

Unavailable Features

  • The Approvals Dashboard and Search is not available for guest users.

  • Guest users cannot create Page or Section Approvals, and cannot access the settings of existing Page or Section Approvals.

Anonymous Users

Anonymous users cannot be authenticated, and as such they will have no access to Approvals for Confluence, including Page and Section Approvals, the Page Approval Status macro, and the Approvals Dashboard.
