Notifications
Approvals for Confluence sends email notifications at various points in the approval process. The full list is as follows:
-
Approval required emails to approvers when a page or section approval is created, respecting the 'Notify approvers' setting.
-
Approval required emails to approvers when their decision expires, either because the page was edited or because a scheduled expiry was reached, respecting the 'Notify approvers' setting.
-
Approval required emails to approvers when a page approval is resubmitted, respecting the 'Notify approvers' setting.
-
Status update emails to the requester when an approver makes a decision, respecting the 'Update owners' setting.
-
Status update emails to the page owner when an approver makes a decision, respecting the 'Update owners' setting.
The 'Notify approvers' and 'Update owners' settings are deprecated for both page and section approvals, and will be removed on 5 October 2026. After that date all of these emails will always be sent, and each user's Personal Settings will determine whether they receive them.
Settings
Every user can choose which of these emails they receive. Go to Apps → Approvals, then open the Personal Settings tab. Under Email Notifications you will find three settings, each toggled independently: approval required emails (notifications 1 to 3), status updates to requesters (notification 4), and status updates to page owners (notification 5).
