Guest Users

Although Guest Users can use Atlassian Marketplace apps installed on Confluence sites they have access to, there are some limitations.

Our Approvals for the Confluence app is impacted by one of these limitations in particular; Guest Users have limited access to internal user information in Confluence. This means that many of the features in Approvals will not be available to Guest Users.

For more information, we have provided a detailed breakdown of which Approvals features are supported or unsupported for guest users.

Supported Features

• Guest users can be added as approvers to Page Approvals by non-guest users.

  • Note: the guest user will see all other users as ‘Unknown User’ within Approvals for Confluence.

• Guest users can approve and reject Page Approvals.

• Guest users can view a page’s Approval History, but users other than the logged in guest user will be displayed as ‘Unknown User’.

• Guest users can view a Page Approval’s approval and rejection comments (if added), but all users other than the logged in guest user will be displayed as ‘Unknown User’.

Unavailable Features

• The Approvals Search is not available for guest users.

• Guest users cannot create Page Approvals or Section Approvals, and cannot access the settings of existing Page Approvals.

• Guest users cannot be added to Approval Teams.

• Guest users cannot view Section Approvals, which means that we do not support their addition as approvers to Section Approvals.

• Guest users cannot view the Page Approval Status Macro.

We appreciate that these are limitations, but many of these are outside of our control at present due to Atlassian limitations.
